A 22-year-old man died from gunshot wounds in Brøndby on Tuesday.
A 22-year-old man died after being shot multiple times on Tuesday in Hallingparken in Brøndby, on the outskirts of Copenhagen, according to police in the western part of the capital.
The police received the report at 13:13 on Tuesday afternoon, and went to the scene of the incident and provided first aid to the young man, who was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead and his family was notified.
The Copenhagen area and its surroundings have recently witnessed several shootings, many of which have been classified as being related to gang warfare.
Police Chief Kim Christiansen said in a press release issued by the Metropolitan Police West that it was still “too early” to determine whether the latest incident was related to previous incidents that had occurred recently, but investigations were continuing to find out.
Eyewitnesses saw two people fleeing the scene immediately after the shooting. One of them was described as being 170-180 centimeters tall, under 30 years old, wearing dark clothing, and not of Danish origin.
Regarding the investigation, a person was arrested but later released, and the investigation is still ongoing to determine whether the person is connected to the incident.
Police have set up a temporary station near the crime scene where witnesses to the shooting can contact and speak with the police.
In addition, a large number of police patrols were present in the area.
The police chief said, “Shooting in this manner in a residential area is completely unacceptable, and we have made tremendous efforts to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators.”.
