Copenhagen police said in a press release that during an arrest operation Wednesday morning in Valby in the capital region, a man was arrested on suspicion of promoting terrorist activity via social media.

He is accused of violating Article § 114e of the Penal Code by promoting the activities of the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS) via social media.

Copenhagen police chief Inspector Danny Rees said, ”It is extremely serious when we arrest and target so-called terrorism charges – also in cases where criminal acts have been committed via social media.” He says the police are still facing a lengthy investigation and therefore cannot go into further details at the moment.

Police wrote that the detainee would be presented during a constitutional hearing at Fredericksburg Court on Wednesday, however it was too early to say anything more at this time.

The prosecutor will request “closed doors” regarding the constitutional questioning session.
