The annual wellbeing survey from the city of Copenhagen showed that more people feel afraid at night, especially in northwest Copenhagen.

According to the survey, Copenhagen residents are the safest in Amager Vest, while Brønshøj-Husum residents are the least safe in the metropolitan area, with the feeling of insecurity increasing at night more than during the day.

9% of Copenhagen residents experience insecurity in their neighborhoods during the day, while this figure is 17% in the evening and at night. However, the study showed significant differences between the neighborhoods of the area.

In these areas, insecurity in the dark has increased since 2021, and the same applies to Indre By, Kgs. Enghave and Vanløse.

What are people afraid of?
The study shows that insecurity among Copenhagen residents is greatest in green areas and around public transport.

In general, most people's sense of insecurity is affected by gang conflicts, gang-related shootings, personal experiences with crime, and criminal incidents in general. The type of crime that worries Copenhagen residents the most is bicycle theft (63%), a form of crime that affected 17% of the city's residents last year.
