Police fire shots and arrest 9 people in Nordvest
Copenhagen police went to the Nordvest area of the capital, Copenhagen, on Sunday night following a report of a fight between a large group of boys and young men with weapons. When the police arrived at Frimestervej 63 in the Nordvest area, the police fired two warning shots on suspicion that the group were carrying weapons. No one was injured by the police bullets, according to Copenhagen Police Chief of Staff Michael Andersen, as reported by TV2.
Police arrested nine teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 24 at the scene.
Regarding the police operation, no firearms were found, but police did find several knives in the Frimestervej area, and therefore the nine detainees are suspected of violating the weapons law, according to the source.
Copenhagen police have no further comments on the case while investigations continue.
Regarding the gunshots fired by the police, the Independent Police Complaints Commission has been notified, but no investigation will be opened into the way the police acted because no one was injured by police bullets.
