Identity falsification in traffic violations leads to prison sentences: Public Prosecution warns against “criminal stupidity”
The repeated use of fake names to avoid traffic violations is provoking the ire of the Public Prosecution on the roads.
A new incident in Rødovre highlights the rise in identity theft attempts in front of police officers.
According to what was published by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Vestegnens, Denmark on the X platform, the judicial authorities expressed their dissatisfaction with the repeated attempts by some drivers to deceive the police in order to evade paying traffic fines, by providing information or documents belonging to other people.
In the statement, the prosecution stressed that this behavior is not only “stupid but also illegal,” and that these attempts at manipulation are often discovered, leading to serious legal consequences.
In the most recent case, a 33-year-old woman was stopped in Rødovre after police caught her using her mobile phone while driving. According to the prosecution, the woman attempted to evade the fine by displaying someone else's ID on her phone instead of revealing her own.
However, the police discovered the trick, and she ended up receiving a prison sentence, in addition to having a criminal record recorded on her criminal record, according to what the Public Prosecution stated on X.
