Copenhagen police have announced they are preparing for a major operation targeting debtors referred to enforcement court – individuals who are taken to court for failing to pay a bill to any government or private entity. The warning reads: “Pay now or risk arrest.”Look (Contact information for the police to confirm there is no court claim is at the end of the article)

With the Easter holiday and travel season approaching, police have warned people to make sure they pay their debts and do not evade court hearings, otherwise they will be arrested when their passports are checked during departure procedures. According to the police, every year there are quite a few people who do not reach the sunny weather in southern Europe but end up in prison.

On March 30, Copenhagen police are planning a major operation targeting wanted debtors, and in this regard, Anders Allslev is sending a strong warning to debtors who have not settled their affairs.

The warning stated: “If you owe money and are summoned to court, and then fail to appear for the hearing regarding your debt, you will be searched. This means, for example, that you could face arrest and then a court appearance if you attempt to leave the country for a holiday. Make sure you pay the amount owed or reach an agreement with the bailiff on how to settle the debt to avoid being caught by officers at home, at your workplace, or stopped at the airport on your way to the gate. You also risk spending the night in Vestre Fængsel if you are caught outside of court hours. If you owe money and do not appear for the summons to the enforcement court, you should check your e-Boks or locate the notice served to find out which enforcement court to contact,” according to Police Commissioner Anders Alslev of the Copenhagen Police Investigations Department.
