According to TV2, a bus driver in East Jutland was stabbed in the chest during an incident on Monday on the Axel Gruhns Vej road in Højbjerg, after a passenger tried to rob him and take money from the bus, as reported by TV2 Østjeland.

Police stated that the incident occurred during an attempted robbery by one of the bus passengers, who tried to steal money from the driver, resulting in an assault using a knife. Police confirmed that the driver was injured as a result of the stabbing, but clarified that his condition is not critical.

Police reported that the call came in at 16:07, and police and ambulance patrols, as well as a police dog unit, rushed to the scene. Authorities imposed a security cordon around the place while investigators continued their work to collect evidence and secure the crime scene.

The source also quoted Peter Tolstrup, the duty officer for the East Jutland police, as saying that the police have not yet been able to provide further information about the suspect, noting that releasing details could jeopardize the ongoing investigation. He added that the driver sustained some injuries but was not seriously hurt.

Tommy Hansen, station manager for Aarbus, which operates buses for Midttrafik, confirmed the incident in statements to TV2 Østjylland, explaining that he had contacted the driver who is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. He indicated that the bus had been taken out of service for a forensic examination and evidence search, and that the company would later activate psychological support and professional assistance procedures for the affected driver.

The police also clarified that they have not yet made any arrests in the case, nor did they specify how long they will remain at the scene of the incident, given the ongoing evidence collection and field investigations.
