Copenhagen police find hidden knives and extend checkpoint operations in these areas
Copenhagen police have decided to extend the operation of temporary police checkpoints, known as Visitationszone, in areas covering several parts of the Nørrebro and Nordvest districts of the capital, Copenhagen, due to the discovery of several knives in those areas. The temporary police checkpoints provided opportunities to search people and inspect vehicles to find any weapons. Increased police efforts over the past 14 days have led to the discovery of nearly 20 knives hidden in various places, including public places.
The temporary police checkpoints were set up on February 8 as a result of several stabbings in those areas and were scheduled to end on Wednesday, but the police announced an extension of their operation until March 8. This means that the police have the right to continue searching everyone and searching all vehicles without justification.
The extension decision includes the following areas:
Peblinge Dossering – Sortedam Dossering – Fredensgade – Tagensvej – Jagtvej – Lersø Parkallé – Tuborgvej – Bispebjergvej – Orgelbyggervej – Rådvadsvej – Utterslevvej – Hareskovvej – Borups Allé – Bispeengbuen – Ågade – Åboulevard – Peblinge Dossering.
