Several tons of fireworks stolen; police issue warning

If you are offered cheap fireworks bearing names such as Lille Arne, Cousin Ernst, or Folmer, they are most likely stolen goods. Early Thursday morning, between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m., several tons of fireworks were stolen from Land og Fritid in Bjerringbro, despite the presence of surveillance cameras on the sealed, 20-foot-high container, which was completely emptied of fireworks worth tens of thousands of Danish kroner.
Police have identified some types of fireworks as Little Arne, Cousin Ernst and Folmer, and local police in Viborg are urging buyers to keep an eye on the names of fireworks and if the price is noticeably cheap, the police would like to know from people to help them catch the thieves.
These types of fireworks usually cost between 800 and 1500 Danish kroner, and police believe the thieves will most likely try to sell them for at least half that.
According to the police, a similar incident occurred on Wednesday night at HH Trælast og Byggecenter in Stoholm between 1 and 3 a.m., where thieves also escaped with several tons of fireworks from the Diamond brand.
The value of the stolen fireworks is estimated at around 75,000 Danish kroner.
