According to TV2 on Thursday, the price of gas has returned to the level it was at before the war in Ukraine, and Danes will notice this in upcoming bills.

As the price of natural gas continues to fall, it has now reached its lowest level since the outbreak of war in Ukraine on February 24th.

The price has stabilized at just under 570 kroner per megawatt-hour, after gas prices peaked this summer when the price in August reached more than 2,500 Danish kroner per megawatt-hour.

Danske Bank expert Jens Nærvig Pedersen said that at the moment there is a lull in the European gas market, and there is still plenty of gas in stock for the rest of the heating season, aided by the current relatively warm weather which reduces gas consumption.

The expert added that the upcoming gas bill will be much lower than the very high prices we witnessed during the summer and the beginning of autumn, which came as a shock to many gas customers. However, we are still at a high price level that consumes a lot of the household budget, but it is slightly lower than it was a few months ago.

An economic recession may be on the way.
However, the expert does not believe that this is the beginning of a general decline in the price of gas, but will also be at a higher level in the future than it was in the past, as prices could rise quickly again if the weather gets cold and consumption increases. Filling gas stockpiles during the coming spring will also play a role in determining gas prices for the subsequent period.
