The “Muslims for Peace” association is conducting a public clean-up campaign after New Year's Eve, and citizens are praising their efforts.
TV2 published an article this afternoon about the “Muslims for Peace” association’s street cleaning campaign following last night’s New Year’s celebrations.
Volunteers began at 8 a.m. today with a campaign to clean up and remove garbage and firework debris left last night in the streets and public square at Aarhus Cathedral.
Falah Malik, Imam of the Ahmadiyya community and president of the “Muslims for Peace” association, said the aim is to make a positive difference in society. He told the source, “It is important for us to express ourselves and practice our way of life as Muslims and Danes. One way to do this is to contribute to society and show our love and solidarity with our fellow human beings.” He added that participation in the association’s activities is open to everyone, regardless of religion or belief.
The “Muslims for Peace” group started similar clean-up campaigns several years ago in Hvidovre and Copenhagen, eventually reaching Aarhus. However, the number of participants this time is lower than in previous years due to the current coronavirus situation.
The residents of the area, as well as passersby, praised the efforts of the volunteers.
