According to DR, the well-known Danish Arab influencer Al-Ahmarni - whose real name is Ahmed Al-Shaabi - was sentenced yesterday, Monday, to four months in prison in February for publicly supporting Hamas's attack on a music festival in Israel, according to the news report. The influencer appealed the sentence to the Eastern High Court, where the ruling was issued yesterday, Monday.

The Supreme Court yesterday increased the sentence to an unconditional six-month prison term, which was also requested by the prosecution when the case was heard in the Copenhagen District Court.

The case stems from a 40-second Snapchat video in which Ahmed Shaabi, 27, commented after the October 7 attack, saying: “250 people were killed, seriously – let’s be realistic for once. What’s happening there (in Israel) isn’t entirely fair, because there are still people there. People are living there.” In the video, he pauses briefly before smiling, making a dance move, shaking his head, and continuing, “…which hasn’t been divided yet. But 250 pieces (presumably referring to the number of people) isn’t completely stupid,” according to DR.

Ahmed Al-Shaabi said he was not guilty, and his defender believes that freedom of expression allowed for the release of that video.

This case is considered the first in a series of cases under investigation related to "turning a blind eye to terrorism in the attack on Israel," according to the source.

It is worth noting that Danish law criminalizes sympathy with Hamas, which is classified as a terrorist organization, and therefore punishes anyone who publicly declares their support for or sympathy with Hamas or the attack of October 7th of last year.
