Government source: Denmark to receive 200 refugees from Rwanda

According to a press release issued by the Danish Ministry of Immigration and Integration, Denmark will accept 200 people from Rwanda as refugees under a quota system. The decision was made by Minister of Immigration and Integration Kaar Dybvad Bakke, in accordance with the law stipulating that the minister is authorized to determine the number and distribution of the refugee quota to be resettled in Denmark each year. As in previous years, this year's focus will be on women and children. Minister Bakke stated in the press release: “The current asylum system is broken. The cynical law of the jungle, wielded by human traffickers, dictates the number of illegal migrants arriving in Europe and seeking asylum. The government believes we must limit the number of random asylum seekers coming here, and that refugees should instead come to Denmark through organized and legal channels. That is why I am pleased that we can continue to accept refugees through the quota system. Rwanda is a country that takes on a huge responsibility when it comes to refugees, and therefore has repeatedly received international praise, for example from the UNHCR. Rwanda is also a country with which Denmark enjoys good cooperation on refugee issues.“.
Information and facts:

- The decision is generally made in the middle of the year.
- In 2020 and 2021, Denmark decided to accept 200 refugees from Rwanda.
