The Directorate of Roads announced major asphalt works that will take three weeks on a route used by 27,000 drivers daily south of Farøbroerne, where road users will be directed in Sydmotorvejen between the Nørre Alslev exit and Farøbroerne in the northbound lane starting Sunday evening.

The work aims to use a new type of asphalt on the aforementioned track, which would partly provide a more comfortable driving experience and partly enhance rolling resistance. This is good news for motorists for more than one reason, as less rolling resistance means less fuel consumption.

The section of the motorway in Farøbroerne was built in the early 1980s, and is therefore the first section of the motorway to be built in Falster. Today it is used by about 27,000 drivers.

According to the Directorate of Roads, the existing asphalt in the Falster section of Sydmotorvejen between Nørre Alslev and Farøbroerne is old and needs to be renewed.

The southbound lane will be closed from today at 5:30 pm until next Friday at 1:00 pm, after which the road will be closed again for the following two weeks. Between Friday at 1:00 pm and Sunday at 5:30 pm, no work will be carried out on the road and it will be fully open to traffic, according to the Roads Directorate. However, at certain times, road users will have to drive on surfaces that are not fully prepared or unmarked, and as a result, the speed will be reduced.

The work is expected to be completed in three weeks; however, as is usually the case, some challenges may arise that could lead to delays in completing the required work as a result of weather conditions.
