According to BT, municipal affairs expert Roger Buch warned that Skander Siddique's housing case could lead to a rerun of the Copenhagen municipal elections if the city council cancels his registered address in the capital. TV2 Kosmopol quoted the expert as saying there is a real risk that the election results could be drastically affected by this issue.

Just two months before the municipal elections, Skander Siddiq changed his registered address from Herlev to Copenhagen. This move is at the heart of the matter, as canceling his Copenhagen registration would legally disqualify him from taking a seat on the city council, known as the Borgerrepræsentationen.

Expert Roger Bock explained to BT that the case could take on a more serious dimension if the Copenhagen municipality concludes that Skander Siddique, who received 3,125 personal votes in the election, deliberately attempted to falsify the ballot to get his name on it. He emphasized that such a scenario would be unprecedented in Denmark.

Roger Bock told TV 2 Kosmopol: “This possibility must be considered. How can we deal with a situation where there is an additional candidate who deliberately manipulated the ballot in order to get a piece of paper?”.

The BT report quoted the expert as saying that one possible scenario would be to award the seat won by the Free Green Party (Frie Grønne) to the next candidate on the party list, instead of holding a new election. However, he emphasized that the final decision rests with the Copenhagen municipality, after the final ruling on the housing issue.

Last week, BT, in cooperation with several other Danish media outlets, revealed that the Copenhagen municipality had issued an official notice stating its intention to cancel the registration of Skander Siddique's place of residence in the municipality.

The documents explained that the notice was issued because Skander Siddiq failed to submit the required documents to the Population Registry (Folkeregisteret) to prove his actual relocation to Copenhagen. These details were included in the advance notice letter obtained by BT after requesting access to the official documents.

Copenhagen municipality has stated that Skander Siddique has until January 5 to submit his objections or any additional documents supporting his position, before the municipality makes its final decision regarding the registration of his place of residence and the legal and political implications thereof, according to local media.
