Skander Siddiq is challenging Copenhagen municipality's decision to cancel his residency registration.
As the deadline given by the Copenhagen municipality to politician and former Member of Parliament Skander Siddique, who recently won a seat in the Copenhagen municipality, approaches, the leader of the Free Green Party, Skander Siddique, will not submit any additional documents to the Copenhagen municipality on Monday, while the municipality has set tomorrow, Monday, as the deadline in the case related to the registration of Skander Siddique’s residence, according to a statement by lawyer Erbil Kaya, who represents Skander Siddique, to Ritzau, according to the TV2 Kosmopol website.
With reference to the laws, lawyer Erbil Kaya does not believe that the Copenhagen municipality has the authority to request additional information, as another municipality has already made a decision in this case, namely the Herlev municipality, which confirmed the transfer of Iskandar Sadiq from it.
The lawyer stated, "Therefore, we would like to ask the Copenhagen municipality to clarify what authority it has to investigate this matter after another municipality has already decided that everything is fine," according to sources.
Earlier, the Copenhagen municipality sent newly elected council member Skander Siddique a notice revoking his residency after local media questioned whether he had actually moved from his home in Herlev to Copenhagen, where his family still resides. Siddique was given an opportunity to prove he had indeed relocated to Copenhagen. He faces losing his seat on the Copenhagen municipal council if the municipality determines he is not actually living at the registered address that allowed him to run for office in the municipal elections.
