The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Saturday expressing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and displeasure at the failure to take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of attacks on Islamic holy sites, the latest of which was the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran and the raising of slogans of hatred and racism against Islam and Muslims in front of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Copenhagen.

In the statement, the ministry expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strongest condemnation of acts inciting violence and hatred against religions. At the same time, it warned against the repetition of these provocative acts that offend the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world, which constitute a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, according to the statement.

The Danish government also condemned the burning of the Quran yesterday in a statement issued by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the government, which read: “Burning holy texts and other religious symbols is a shameful act that disrespects the religion of others. It is a provocative act that hurts many people and creates division between different religions and cultures. Denmark enjoys freedom of religion, and many Danish citizens are Muslim. They are an important part of the Danish population. Denmark emphasizes that freedom of expression and freedom of assembly must be respected. Denmark supports the right to protest but stresses that it must remain peaceful.”.
