The Queen of Denmark is still in the rehabilitation and recovery phase following recent back surgery, and the Royal Household announced in a press release Tuesday morning that Queen Margrethe is expected to resume her royal duties on her 83rd birthday on April 16.

“On this occasion, Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family will appear on the balconies of Christian IX Palace in Amalienborg at 12:00 noon,” according to the Royal Household.

It is worth noting that the last time the Queen celebrated from the balcony of Amalienborg Palace was five years ago, when thousands of Danes and their children lined up to greet the Queen, waving Danish flags in celebration of the Queen's birthday.

The Royal Household stated that the Queen's rehabilitation is progressing well, but she will not be able to complete all planned royal duties in the coming months.
