Following the recent global rise in energy prices, half a million households in Denmark are expected to be affected by a significant increase in their heating bills this winter, out of approximately 2.7 million households in Denmark.

This is because the heating systems of around half a million households either rely on natural gas from the naturgasfyr system or they live in areas covered by central heating with high gas consumption, which can lead to heating bills of more than 1,000 kroner per month in cold weather.

With a new heating economic package, the government will help the elderly, cash assistance recipients, and citizens who may find it difficult to pay large energy bills.

Allocating 100 million kronor
As part of the heating package, the government is setting aside 100 million kroner so that municipalities can apply for financial support to cover additional expenses.

Citizens can also visit the Sparenergi.dk website, which contains up-to-date tips and guidance on how to keep their energy bill low.
