Who among us hasn't tried Danish pastries, baked daily and sold fresh in bakeries and shops? We even find our Danish pastries in some bakeries, cafes, and shops when we travel to other countries, usually bearing the name "Danish pastries" in other languages. But the secret that many people don't know is that Danish pastries are not originally Danish!
In the 1840s, some Austrian bakers settled in Denmark and introduced their beloved pastries, which is why Danish pastries are called "wienerbrød" or "Vienna bread" in Denmark. But wait, let's keep this a secret! Because we in Denmark have certainly mastered pastry making!
