The Danish Foreign Ministry: We will increase humanitarian aid to Lebanon and will act as an intermediary for the departure of Danes from Lebanon.
According to TV2, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is acting as an intermediary in communication between Middle East Airlines (MEA) and Danes in Lebanon. To meet the high demand for flights from Lebanon, MEA will introduce additional flights, according to a message from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to TV2.
Meanwhile, people registered on the Danish list for Lebanon will be given the option of mediation for additional departure flights.
The Foreign Ministry insists that it is not an evacuation, but describes it as a “purely commercial solution,” with the ministry simply mediating contact between Danes in Lebanon and the airline. It is worth noting that a number of countries, such as Canada, China and Spain, have begun evacuating their citizens from Lebanon.
According to the DR website, the ministry confirms that this is not an evacuation, but rather those interested must purchase and pay for the tickets themselves. Those concerned have the right to refuse the first offer to leave on additional flights. In practice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends the contact information of those who wish to accept the offer to Middle East Airlines.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also renews its call for all Danes in Lebanon to leave the country.
Denmark increases humanitarian aid to Lebanon
According to the same source, the Danish Foreign Ministry announced an increase in the amount of humanitarian aid that Denmark provides to Lebanon by 25 million Danish kroner, according to a statement by Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to TV2: “Ultimately, Lebanon is a country that, as a state, wants to have a reasonable relationship with Israel, but it finds that there is a state within a state; namely, Hezbollah, which is a terrorist organization,” he said.
According to the Foreign Minister, aid to Lebanon must go through the Red Cross and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees: “There is an urgent need for this,” Lars Løkke Rasmussen told the source.
Lars Lücke is prepared to consider other consequences for Iran.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen described the Iranian missile attack against Israel as a “reprehensible escalation of the conflict in the Middle East,” according to TV2, citing Ritzau.
The letter stated that Lars Løkke Rasmussen was prepared to consider the consequences of the attack for Iran, according to a written statement that read: “We expanded EU sanctions against Iran earlier this year, and I am prepared to consider the additional consequences that this (Iranian) attack may have for Iran.”.
The Foreign Minister also calls on all parties to de-escalate the situation.
