A shooting in Copenhagen early Monday morning injured a man and a young woman, raising suspicions of gang-related score-settling. Police are investigating and have cordoned off the area, but no arrests have been made so far.

According to the Danish TV2 website, a 39-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were shot early Monday morning in the Sydhavnen area of Copenhagen, Denmark. They were taken to the hospital for treatment, and Copenhagen police confirmed that their condition is stable and their lives are not in danger.

Martin Kajberg, head of the emergency unit at Copenhagen police, told TV 2 that police received multiple reports of gunfire in the area at 1:33 a.m., and upon arrival at the scene on Teglholmsgade, the injured were found inside an address there.

Kyberg explained that initial investigations indicate the incident may be linked to internal conflict within known gangs and criminal organizations in the city.

He added that the hypothesis of liquidation within the environment of gangs and extremist elements is the most likely at present, without providing further details.

He noted that the police have not arrested any suspects so far, while the authorities continue their search and investigation at the scene of the incident, according to the source.

According to TV2 reporter Jens Nymark, who was at the scene, police found 17 empty bullet casings outside the building where the shooting occurred. CCTV footage showed numerous bullet holes in a ground-floor apartment window.

Police explained that they have not yet determined whether the shots were fired from inside the apartment or from outside towards the inside, stressing that the investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances of the crime and the identity of the perpetrators.

Police have established a wide security cordon around the scene of the incident on Tegelholm Street, where criminal investigation teams are working to collect evidence and analyze the scene, focusing on the possible backgrounds of the crime, especially within the criminal environment of gangs that have been experiencing increasing tensions recently.
