The citizenship test is offered twice a year and must be passed if you, as a foreigner, wish to apply for Danish citizenship. If you fail the test, you can retake it. The next test is scheduled for November 27, 2024.

Passing the citizenship test (indfødsretsprøve) is one of the conditions for applying for Danish citizenship, while the test (medborgerskabsprøven) is one of the conditions for obtaining a permanent residence permit in Denmark.
The tests were devised by successive Danish governments that moved towards tightening residency and asylum laws. The citizenship test consists of a total of 45 questions, 40 of which are about Danish social conditions, and five questions about Danish values, all in the form of choosing the correct answer from among several options.
To pass the test successfully, the applicant must answer at least 36 out of 45 questions correctly, including four out of the five questions about Danish values.
