Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen posted a tweet expressing her support for the Norwegian people and the victims of the attack on a gay bar in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, on Friday night, describing the attack as being on something “better than what we have.” Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod also condemned the attack on his official Twitter page.

According to Norwegian and Danish media, a person opened fire near a well-known gay bar, killing two people and injuring 19 others.

Christian Hatlo of the Oslo police said the suspected perpetrator (42 years old), a Norwegian citizen of Iranian origin, had previously been convicted of minor offenses, the most serious of which was a charge of cocaine possession for which he was imprisoned for 120 days.

Police recommended the cancellation of the Oslo Bride gay pride party, which was scheduled to take place today in the Norwegian streets.

According to the police, the case is being investigated as a terrorism case and there is reason to believe it is a hate crime.
