Sweden: Russian weapons found near Finland and Norway borders

According to a recently published article on DR, new satellite images show possible signs that Russia may be rearming several different sites near the borders of both Finland and Norway.
For example, helicopters are parked 180 kilometers from the Finnish border and 110 kilometers from the Norwegian border, as reported by the Swedish media outlet SVT, which verified the images. The Swedish Ministry of Defence is closely monitoring developments and has a good understanding of Russian military activities, according to Swedish Chief of Defence Staff Mikael Claesson: “I consider Russia a real threat over time. For me, the focus will always be on capabilities, potential, and intentions. Sometimes, it takes only a very small amount of capability to create a great deal of disruption,” he told SVT. (DR).
Russia's response to Sweden and Finland's acceptance into NATO last year
Finland and Sweden were both accepted into NATO in 2024, and Swedish Defense Forces personnel are expected to be deployed to a new NATO headquarters in the Finnish part of Lapland after the summer, according to Swedish media reports. The Defense Minister says the potential armament confirms previous Russian claims: “When we applied for NATO membership, the Russian side said they would implement military-technical measures as a result, and here I see a direct link, and that is exactly what they are doing. You are increasing your military presence and therefore your ability to operate in our immediate region,” Michael Claesson told DR.
