Update: A source from ALDI said that bargain-hungry Danes flocked to the store and emptied shelves of fresh food products such as dairy, cold cuts, meat, fruit and vegetables.

The German supermarket chain ALDI previously announced its withdrawal from Denmark after 45 years, where it was the first supermarket chain to offer discounted prices. Since the announcement, the Norwegian Reitan Group, which owns Rema1000, has acquired a significant portion of the ALDI stores. The announcement of ALDI's closure was accompanied by announcements of major discounts, which will begin today, Friday, January 27th, at 18 stores located in the following areas:

Ølstykke
Tølløse
Toftlund
Skjern
Skanderborg
Rødekro
Ribe
Snorresvej i Odense
Nørre Aslev

You can find addresses, opening hours for all stores, and more by clicking here..Regarding the clearance sale, the discount will begin today at 30% and continue throughout the weekend. The discount will increase to 50% on Monday and Tuesday, and reach 70% on Wednesday and Thursday, after which the stores will close under the ALDI Forever banner. Certain products are not included in the discount, such as tobacco, baby formula, over-the-counter medications, magazines, and newspapers. Drinks will be sold at full price.

It is worth mentioning that the German ALDI opened its first Danish store in 1977 as the first chain to offer discounted prices in Denmark, known locally as a “discount chain.” Today, after 45 years, ALDI, the first discount chain in Denmark, is saying goodbye.
