Police in central and western Jutland have stopped searching for a 23-year-old woman and her two children, the police department announced Thursday morning. The woman and children had been wanted by police since January 12, after they had not been in contact with the family department in the municipality of Viborg for a month.

But after the municipality contacted the woman, the search request was cancelled.

The woman herself contacted the municipality two weeks after the search began, and as a result the stalking notice was removed. The police are asking the media and others who shared the stalking notice to do the same, and the police thank everyone who helped in this matter.

One explanation for the pursuit of the woman and children was that the municipality was concerned about the children's safety and therefore the police asked the public for help in finding them.

The police presumed that the woman had hidden the children, while the investigation showed that the children had stayed at Skive at the beginning of the year.
