Following the recent local elections for regional municipal councils, the proportion of ethnic minorities in city councils rose slightly to 0.6%, which is seen as an indication that there are very few people from a non-Danish background in local politics, according to TV2, quoting Nicolai Nielsen, head of the Equal Treatment Unit at the Department of Human Rights.
It is worth noting that the voter turnout in the last elections in areas where the majority of the population is a minority was less than 32%, according to official data.
