Danish Prime Minister: “The handling of the coronavirus crisis needs to be reconsidered,” and the idea was welcomed by parliament.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that "the current restrictions and the overall management of the coronavirus crisis need to be reconsidered," citing the high rates of intensive care hospitalizations in Denmark despite the high daily infection rates. This statement was met with general satisfaction and approval from parliamentary parties, according to TV2.
The Prime Minister did not clarify the government's plans for how to deal with Corona in Denmark in the future, nor did she specify when the country could reopen further or return to normal and end Corona restrictions.
Return to normal
The Liberal Party, for example, wants to return to the Denmark we knew before the Corona crisis and abandon the current measures and restrictions. The party's health spokesman, Martin Gertsen, told the source, "At the beginning of February, we will have to decide whether Corona should continue to be classified as a socially serious disease, and I think that gradually the arguments are beginning to diminish a little, because the pressure on health services due to Corona, especially on intensive care units, is decreasing significantly.".
In the same context, officials from other parties commented that we must learn how to live with Corona and remove the special situation imposed by this disease today and develop a long-term strategy to deal with Corona as a disease similar to the situation of the flu, where treatment is provided to the group that needs it without disrupting institutions, companies and businesses, in addition to changing the system of conducting Corona tests and allocating the test to certain groups according to need instead of the huge numbers that include all groups as is the case today, which costs the state a large budget, and thus stop using Coronapas in the future.
Accordingly, the proposed strategies are expected to be discussed in the Danish Parliament in the near future.
