The European Union announced on Monday its decision to grant a five-year multiple-entry visa to citizens of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries – Denmark being one of the Schengen Area countries. This was announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, during the opening session of the first high-level EU-GCC Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation in Luxembourg. He stated: “I welcome the decision taken by the European Commission this morning on harmonizing the rules for granting multiple-entry visas to citizens of the GCC countries.”.

This historic decision allows Saudi citizens to visit the European Union multiple times over a five-year period using the same visa, and during the visa's validity period. Visa holders enjoy travel rights equivalent to those of visa-free citizens.

According to the updated visa rules, visa regulations have been standardized for all GCC countries whose citizens need visas to enter the Schengen Area for tourism or work.
