TV2 published a report about the weather and Storm Malek, which is expected to hit Denmark over the weekend, tomorrow and the day after. This storm may be the strongest in several years and may cause storms in several places.

For the first time in two years, a regular storm is heading towards Denmark. The storm, named Malik, will make its mark on Saturday and Sunday with very strong winds.

Winds are expected to increase on Saturday morning, first in the western part of the country, and then may turn into a storm, with gale-force winds possible in several places by midday.

Winds will increase on Saturday afternoon and Saturday, and in the afternoon moderate winds along the coasts of western Jutland and northern Jutland could reach storm force, while storms could also reach hurricane force.

Later on Saturday, strong winds will spread to the Kattegat region, where there could also be a regular storm with gale-force winds reaching hurricane strength – all the way to the North Zealand coast.

On Sunday night there will also be strong storms and possibly a tornado in Bornholm, as well as strong winds in the rest of the country before the winds slowly subside on Sunday.

Malik could cause a storm that would lead to flooding.
When winds become very strong, they produce unusual water levels. During the night into Sunday morning, water levels in the Kattegat – and its associated fjords – could rise to more than 1.6 meters above normal, which can be described as storm-like. These high levels will cause problems in many areas along the coast, in addition to waves that could reach six or seven meters in height in the Kattegat. This forecast is a weather prediction from the source and may not be entirely accurate.
