Local media broadcast this morning a historic moment that saw the Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen sent into space on a six-month journey. He is the astronaut in the launch operation, which is being carried out using the Falcon 9 rocket and the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft from the American company SpaceX, along with three other astronauts.
This is the second time that Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen has launched to the International Space Station. The first trip was for only twenty days, so this trip, which launched a little while ago at 09:27 Denmark time (3:27 AM Florida local time), is considered the most important in the history of Danish spaceflight.
The first 12 critical minutes ended successfully
The spacecraft was scheduled to launch yesterday, Friday, but for technical reasons it was postponed for 24 hours. The spacecraft then launched successfully and passed the critical phase, which is the first 12 minutes after launch.
After the spacecraft reached the required speed of 27,000 kilometers per hour, the first 12-minute mission was successfully completed. Andreas Mogensen and his crew will remain in the Dragon spacecraft for the next 29 hours before docking with the International Space Station at approximately 2:50 PM Danish time on Sunday.
