“Inanna celebrates women
The Inana Cultural Café held a celebration for International Women's Day on Saturday, March 11, 2023, in Copenhagen. The event was opened by the association's president, Ms. Sarah Sami, who delivered a speech urging women to unite and emphasizing the crucial role of the family in fostering a culture of gender equality. The association also honored several Arab academics, including Ms. Asma Abbas, founder of the Denmark 24 platform, who spoke about her inspiring media and academic journey. Additionally, researcher and writer Dr. Fatima Al-Zahra Al-Atraqji was hosted and honored, with a focus on her distinguished academic and literary career, marked by numerous successes and accolades.
The event featured a performance by the Palestinian folk heritage group Ghosn Al-Zaytoun, who captivated the audience with their folk and traditional arts. The Iraqi musical tradition was then showcased by the Ur Heritage Group, who delighted the audience with songs from authentic Iraqi folklore.
The event featured a variety of artistic performances, including an art exhibition by Palestinian artist Nidaa Murad and Iraqi artist Hawraa Al-Khazraji, and an exhibition of Palestinian handicrafts and national costumes curated by Amal Rabah. The exhibition was further enhanced by the works of Iraqi artist Nabil Ali, who generously donated the rights to his prints and artifacts from Baghdad to support the event. Finally, the evening was enlivened by Danish dancers Heidi and Lisa, who performed belly dancing and Gypsy dance to enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of women from the Arab and Kurdish communities, as well as a select group of academics and writers.
