The first Islamic cemetery in North Zealand will be established soon.

Based on a request from Muslim citizens in the municipality of Hillerød, the municipality decided to establish a cemetery for Muslims. This will be the first cemetery for Muslims in the Nordsjælland region, according to the Sjællandske Nyheder website.
According to the newspaper, it was the politicians on the municipality’s Nature, Environment and Climate Committee who approved the creation of the cemetery, which will be linked to Skanekirkegården in Hillerød.
The chair of the city council committee in the municipality, Louise Kolding, told Sjællandske Nyheder that the starting point is that Muslims should be allowed to be buried in the city, and that it is neither sustainable nor humane for Muslim citizens to drive their cars to Copenhagen to visit an Islamic burial site, according to her statement.
It is worth mentioning that there are many Islamic cemeteries in Denmark, for example in the capital city of Copenhagen, and in Aarhus, Odense and Vejle.
