Just in: Danish Ministry of Defence websites are under cyberattack, disrupting access to the sites.

According to the Ministry of Defense, a cyberattack caused several Ministry of Defense websites to go offline on Thursday, December 8. This was due to an overload on the websites, which caused them to be unable to withstand the excessive pressure and thus stop working.
In addition to the Ministry of Defense website, other sites such as the Defense Intelligence website and the Cyber Security Center website were also disrupted.
Initially, it was believed that a technical error was preventing the websites from working, but it was later determined to be a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. According to the Ministry of Defense, this type of attack overloads the underlying web servers to such an extent that they become unresponsive and unable to display normal web pages. This is typically carried out by someone controlling a group of computers or other internet devices, causing them to simultaneously and endlessly query the same IP address or send traffic in a specific pattern to the targeted IT equipment. The result is that no one else can access the website. According to TV2, Forsvarets Koncern IT is working to stop the external overload, and currently, no other effects have been observed besides the inaccessibility of the web pages.
