While petrol and diesel prices continue to rise, this does not stop Danes from filling their cars with fuel to travel by car and head south.

Dansk Bilferie, Denmark’s largest provider of car holiday services, is experiencing a “sell explosion,” according to Lars Linn Jensen, the company’s commercial director. “In the 15 years I’ve been here, we’ve never seen a sales surge like we are experiencing now,” he told TV2.

An economist says that with holiday money in their pockets and bigger savings after the pandemic, Danes don't mind refueling their cars with more expensive fuel.

Cheap fuel in Germany also encouraged Danes to fill up their cars and travel by car.

According to the company's manager, Dansk Bilferie's bookings are currently 70% higher than in the same period before the coronavirus pandemic, when the company's bookings were around 400 per week 23, but this year the figure has reached around 700 per week.

It seems that the Corona crisis has changed travel habits, as Corona has taught lessons in the fact that one cannot rely on pre-planning for air travel. It is possible that the experiences of canceling some flights have encouraged more people to travel by car. In addition, a large number of Danes have recently received their holiday pay, which encourages them to spend it on road travel, especially since they do not plan to travel outside Europe.
