A major airline cancels more than 3,000 flights

German airline Lufthansa will cancel another 2,200 flights from Frankfurt and Munich airports this summer due to a shortage of crews and manpower, according to the Danish news agency Ritzau. This announcement comes after Lufthansa announced two weeks ago that it would cancel 900 flights in July, bringing the total number of canceled flights during the summer period to more than 3,000.
The cancellations come during the holiday season, when many Europeans are looking to travel for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, and this means that airports are crowded and short of manpower.
It is difficult to find employees
The major German airline Lufthansa concluded that there is no quick fix for the problems of the aviation industry. For example, Frankfurt International Airport invested heavily in recruitment, yet the airport found it impossible to get staff quickly enough.
In addition to staffing problems, there are also labor unrest in several airlines. If one airline goes on strike, it can create problems in the entire traffic network, so there will be delays. There are currently strike threats at SAS, and the Swedish news agency TTN has also reported that there are strike threats at British Airways and Ryanair.
