According to TV2, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, leader of the Social Democratic Party, confirmed that she has left her previous residence and moved to a new place, but declined to reveal the municipality or region where she currently resides.

Mette Frederiksen told the Ritzau news agency that she decided to move after nearly two years in the prime minister's apartment in central Copenhagen, noting that her former home had seen an increase in demonstrations and protest activities in front of it recently.

Frederiksen said that the public and media interest in her place of residence had become excessive, depriving her and her family of the little privacy they had. She added: “Everyone can see that there is increasing interest in my residence. I don’t have much of a private life, nor does my family. The only place that was private for us was our home, but it is no longer so.”.

Ekstra Bladet newspaper had previously revealed that the Prime Minister had indeed moved out of her apartment, a fact confirmed by Frederiksen for the first time in her recent interview. She explained that her decision stemmed from “increasing interest in her personally and security considerations,” as well as her desire to maintain a balance between privacy and security requirements.

She said: “There has been a noticeable increase in interest in me recently, and there is also a security situation that needs to be dealt with, in addition to my private life. When I put these things together, I hope everyone understands that I don’t want to talk more about this subject.”.

Frederiksen declined to provide further details about her new living situation or private life, saying only: “I don’t have a great desire to talk about myself, but most people can see what’s happening in our society.”.

The Prime Minister did not disclose what she meant by her phrase “what is happening in society,” merely indicating that the general situation in the country required greater caution and privacy for her and her family.

Frederiksen explained that she does not intend to reveal the name of the municipality she has moved to, nor even where she will cast her vote during the upcoming municipal elections on November 18.

According to reports from Ekstra Bladet, Frederiksen was in the process of moving out of her apartment on the eve of a pro-Palestinian demonstration held in front of her residence on the evening of October 19.

The pro-Palestinian demonstration sparked widespread controversy among politicians from different factions in the Danish parliament, from both the blue and red wings, with some of them considering that organizing a demonstration in front of the Prime Minister's private home was a transgression and an infringement on her privacy, according to TV2.
