The Scandinavian Waqf in Copenhagen has just released a statement regarding the attack on the Waqf yesterday morning, Saturday, which reads:
The endowment was subjected to an attack in the early morning hours of Saturday, an incident that raised concerns among visitors to the mosque and the Muslim community in Denmark in general.
The police were informed continuously throughout the period, but unfortunately they did not take any serious measures to ensure adequate protection from this dangerous man, despite the knowledge they had about him.
The mosque has always been a safe gathering point for the surrounding community, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, with thousands of visitors entering the mosque weekly.
Our main mission is to maintain this sense of security for visitors to the mosque, so we work on the following:
- Security will be tightened at the mosque, especially during Ramadan. Further details will be released in a separate announcement as soon as possible.
- Communication with the authorities, including the police and lawyers, is ongoing, and the investigation is being closely monitored.
We urge everyone not to spread false and unverified information, as this may cause undue anxiety or affect the course of investigations.
We pray to God Almighty to protect all Muslims and mosques everywhere.
The statement has ended.
