Statement from the Scandinavian Waqf in Copenhagen regarding the attack on the Waqf yesterday morning, Saturday

The Scandinavian Waqf in Copenhagen has just released a statement regarding the attack on the Waqf yesterday morning, Saturday, which reads:
The endowment was subjected to an attack in the early morning hours of Saturday, an incident that raised concerns among visitors to the mosque and the Muslim community in Denmark in general.
The incident involves a 27-year-old man, unaffiliated with the mosque and unknown to its attendees, who, over the past six days, has been causing chaos and spreading fear through his violent behavior, particularly affecting women, children, and the elderly. The individual—who has a prior police record—was armed with a knife and threatened mosque visitors during his repeated visits at various times of the day.
The police were informed continuously throughout the period, but unfortunately they did not take any serious measures to ensure adequate protection from this dangerous man, despite the knowledge they had about him.
The situation escalated when the man stormed the mosque on Saturday morning, armed with sharp tools, making the mosque's attendees – including some young people aged between 15 and 17 – feel threatened and fearful for their lives, prompting some to confront him in self-defense.
The mosque has always been a safe gathering point for the surrounding community, Muslims and non-Muslims alike, with thousands of visitors entering the mosque weekly.
Our main mission is to maintain this sense of security for visitors to the mosque, so we work on the following:
- Security will be tightened at the mosque, especially during Ramadan. Further details will be released in a separate announcement as soon as possible.
- Communication with the authorities, including the police and lawyers, is ongoing, and the investigation is being closely monitored.
We urge everyone not to spread false and unverified information, as this may cause undue anxiety or affect the course of investigations.
We pray to God Almighty to protect all Muslims and mosques everywhere.
The statement has ended.
