16,000 people are now riding their bicycles in the Danish stage of the French cycling tour, which also started in Denmark in its first stage.
Chaos and congestion are expected on the Storebæltsbroen bridge and Zealand roads on Saturday, according to the Danish Roads Directorate, which also reported that several roads will be completely closed and traffic on the Storebæltsbroen bridge will be limited, with only one lane available for several hours.
The road will also be temporarily converted into a rural road with a maximum speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour.
The race follows a route from Roskilde towards Holbæk, around Odsherred and Kalundborg, and continues towards Korsør before crossing the Storebælt bridge and finishing at Nyborg around 9 pm.
The organizers note that traffic will be affected in the municipalities of Roskilde, Lejre, Holbæk, Odsherred Kalundborg, Slagelse and Nyborg Storebælt Bridge, generally until 9 pm today, while there may be a particularly longer waiting time between 1 pm and 9 pm.
According to the police, the Storebælt bridge will be completely closed between 15 and 15:30 and between 20 and 20:30.
