According to TV2, six children were hospitalized Wednesday evening in the town of Allerød, north of Copenhagen, after consuming what turned out to be gummy vitamins called vingummier, which were later found to contain THC, the psychoactive substance found in the cannabis plant.

According to the North Zealand Police (Nordsjællands Politi), the children, aged between 6 and 12, came across a bag of sweets in a forest in the Teglskoven area. The sweets were found inside a North Face sports bag placed next to rubbish containers.

After a number of children consumed this candy without knowing its contents, they were immediately taken to the hospital, according to the Danish website Ekstra Bladet.

Police confirmed to TV2 that two of the children had been discharged from the hospital, while four others remained under medical observation, noting that “none of the children were in life-threatening danger at any time.”.

According to sources, the police stated that they received the report on Wednesday evening, specifically at around 19:30. Several ambulances were dispatched to the scene, while the police did not clarify whether all six children had consumed the candy or not.

As of Thursday afternoon, no one had been arrested in connection with the incident, and police are treating it as a “crime that threatens the physical safety of people.”.

Following the incident, North Zealand Police issued a direct appeal to parents, urging them to speak with their children about the dangers of consuming things whose origin or ingredients they are unaware of. The police stated, "It is crucial that children learn not to eat anything unless they are absolutely certain of its contents.".
