تجتمع في هذه الأثناء ومنذ الساعة 9:30 صباحاً لجنة الشؤون القانونية في البرلمان الدنماركي (مجلس النواب) للتحقيق مع رئيسة الوزراء ووزير العدل في القضية الشهيرة ب “قضية المنك”، وتنقل وسائل الإعلام الجلسة على الهواء مباشرة. ويتوجب على رئيسة الوزراء الدنماركية ميته فريدريكسن ووزير العدل نيك هيكروب شرح الإرشادات الخاصة التي يتبعونها بشأن التخزين والوصول والنسخ الاحتياطي لرسائل البريد الإلكتروني والرسائل النصية المحذوفة.
حيث قامت رئيسة الوزراء وثلاثة من كبار المسؤولين بضبط هواتفهم لحذف الرسائل النصية تلقائياً بعد 30 يوماً، ونتيجة لذلك تم حذف الرسائل النصية في الأيام الحاسمة حول تاريخ 3 سبتمبر/أيلول العام الماضي عندما تم اتخاذ قرار إبادة حيوانات المنك في الدنمارك وذلك بهدف وقف نشر العدوى بفايروس كورونا التي انتشرت في مزارع المنك وفقاً للسلطات في حينها.

بعد مرور 132 يوماً ردت رئيسة الوزراء بأن قد تم حذف الرسائل النصية تلقائياً من أجهزة أربعة أشخاص رئيسيين “لأسباب أمنية”، بما فيهم أجهزة رئيسة الوزراء ميته فريدريكسن ورئيسة القسم باربرا بيرتلسن ومسؤول آخر هو مارتن جوستستين والمستشار بيلي بابي.
