After 42 years since the opening of the large Føtex supermarket in the City Vest shopping center in the Brabrand district of Aarhus, and with the end of summer, the store will also be closing, according to a press release issued by the Salling Group, the owner of the large Føtex supermarket chain.

According to Tore Nederland, sales manager at Føtex, a great deal of effort has been put into City Vest, out of the company’s desire to maintain a shopping place that many were happy with. The store was redesigned in 2017, and again in late autumn 2022, according to the press release, but it seems that this is not yielding success for the store, and the place is complaining of a relatively low flow of shoppers.

The store currently employs 84 full-time and part-time staff, and efforts will be made to find them new job opportunities with Føtex's neighbors or elsewhere, according to the sales manager, as reported by TV2. The press release also states that Føtex is actively seeking additional opportunities in the region.

Shopping mall crisis: More than half of the stores in City West are empty

According to TV2, the City Vest shopping center has long suffered from a large number of closed shops. According to data from TV2 ØSTJYLLAND in November 2022, there were 40 empty shops for rent out of 65 shops in the shopping center.
