Denmark raises fees for residence permit, family reunification and work permit applications starting from this date

Fees for work and study permit applications, as well as permanent residency, family reunification cases in Denmark and many other applications, increased on Thursday following the enactment of the 2023 budget.
The Danish Agency for International Employment and Integration (SIRI) said in a statement on its website that application fees for work and study permits, as well as family reunification and permanent residence, have changed following the approval of the 2023 budget.
While the fees for family reunification applications have been reduced from 10,330 kroner to 9,750 kroner, all other fees are increasing.
The new fees apply to all applications submitted from May 17th onwards.People who are not citizens of the European Union must pay fees when applying for residence permits in Denmark.
For those who paid the application fee before May 17 but have not yet submitted their final application, SIRI calculates they will need to pay the difference between the old and new fees. The agency stated that this could lengthen processing times and potentially lead to application rejections if the difference is not paid by the deadline.
The increase in application fees itself is not new as it is updated every year, but the changes usually take effect on January 1st.
However, because the 2023 budget was delayed and not adopted by Parliament until May 16, the fee schedule came into effect several months later than usual this year, and the normal budget timetable was disrupted by the general election held on November 1, 2022.
