Rabat (WAM)
The tenth session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, hosted by the Moroccan Parliament in the cities of Rabat and Dakhla, kicked off yesterday with the participation of 80 parliamentarians representing various parliaments of the world’s countries to discuss international developments related to tolerance and peace and ways to find solutions to the political, economic and security challenges facing the world at the present time.
In his opening remarks, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, said, «The world is facing security challenges and economic crises that threaten global food security and exacerbate climate change crises. It is our duty, as peace-lovers and representatives of the people, to work to confront these dangers and threats in every way possible. Because we at the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace believe in the necessity of resolving all conflicts through peaceful means and at the negotiating table, and giving the utmost chance to peaceful solutions, we call, through this session, for a halt to all forms of violence and the use of force throughout the world. We also believe that securing food is a fundamental condition for achieving global peace and tolerance and is a basis for building stability and peace.».
He added: «We call for building new partnerships between countries, governments, and international, regional, national and parliamentary organizations in order to confront global food crises and provide energy. We also call for concerted efforts to confront extremism, eradicate intolerance, discrimination and hatred, combat terrorism in all its forms and types, spread sound concepts of religions and instill the principles of tolerance and peace in our societies.».
