Denmark and Scandinavian countries have a joint agreement to purchase drones.
Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark are preparing to jointly purchase drones and related technologies. A memorandum of understanding regarding this cooperation was signed in Helsinki, Finland, on October 22, 2025.
“We are facilitating joint operations in the Nordic region by strengthening cooperation in the field of unmanned aerial vehicle systems. At the same time, we are intensifying cooperation with the Nordic countries to support Ukraine,” Finnish Defense Minister Antti Haakkanen stated.
With technological advancements in the sector and the ongoing need for upgrades, cooperation between Nordic countries is fully justified. Furthermore, increased joint procurement enables the sector to boost its production capacity and reduce national procurement costs.
In addition to actual purchases, cooperation will be intensified in the areas of research and development, training and information exchange.
Meanwhile, joint procurement of small drones by Nordic countries will be launched as separate procurements under the NATO Procurement and Logistics Agency Partnership, as well as joint procurement of small drones through framework agreements signed by the Danish Ministry of Defence.
Olli Rutto, Head of the Resource Policy Directorate at the Ministry of Defence, also signed the relevant arrangements document and implementation documents on behalf of Finland, which were authorized by Defence Minister Antti Häkkanen, on October 22, 2025, with his colleagues from Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
