The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release regarding Copenhagen hosting two European summits on defense and security on October 1 and 2, noting the impact this will have on traffic in Copenhagen, including the roads surrounding Copenhagen Airport.

Heads of state and government from across Europe will be in attendance, and while priority is being given to minimizing disruption to citizens and road users in Copenhagen, there will be significant traffic diversions in large parts of the city, which will particularly affect road users in the city center, in Amager, and around Copenhagen Airport, according to the statement.

On October 1, Denmark will host a European Union summit on defense, security and support for Ukraine, with the participation of the heads of state and government of the 27 EU member states. The meeting will be held at Christiansborg Palace (the Danish Parliament building).

On the evening of the same day, Their Majesties the King and Queen will host the European member states of the European Political Community at a dinner banquet at Amalienborg Palace.

The following day, a meeting of the European Political Community (EPC) will be held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen. Representatives from about 50 countries will attend, including European heads of state and government, representatives of NATO, EU institutions, and others.

During the period from September 30 to October 2, a number of intensive security measures will be implemented, and therefore traffic in Copenhagen is expected to be affected.

Major roads will be closed for periods of time, and traffic around Indre by, Amager and Copenhagen Airport in particular will be affected, according to the statement.

In addition, flights to the airport are expected to take longer, bus routes will be rerouted, etc.

The statement indicated that subway traffic is not expected to be affected by the temporary traffic changes during the specified period.
