The Danish Railways Company (DSB) is launching its long-awaited new direct train service between the capital cities of Copenhagen, Berlin, and Prague on Friday morning. One detail in particular is generating excitement among experts, according to TV2 Kosmopol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This journey comes after several years of anticipation and growing demand for direct train services to European capitals. At the same time, this launch marks the fact that passengers can once again board a Danish-operated train to the southern German city of Hamburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This means that train passengers will now have two or three opportunities per day to board DSB trains with direct connections to the capitals of Germany and the Czech Republic, where they will not have to change trains in Hamburg, as is the case now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New train line to the Czech capital, Prague<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Copenhagen, Berlin and Prague have been linked through a collaboration between the Danish state-owned railway company (DSB), the German railway company (Deutsche Bahn) and the Czech railway company (\u010cesk\u00e9 Dr\u00e1hy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n This route represents the first direct connection between the three European capitals in more than ten years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Previously, the journey between Copenhagen and Prague took up to 13 hours due to railway maintenance work in northern Germany. Now, the journey to Prague takes 11 hours, while the journey to Berlin takes 7 hours during the initial period. When the Fehmarnbelt line is completed - whenever that happens - it is expected that the travel time will be shortened by an additional 2 hours. Therefore, in the future, this will mean that Prague can be reached in 9 hours, while Berlin is 5 hours away from Copenhagen Central Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Train stations in Danish cities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In Denmark, the train stops in Ringsted, Odense, Kolding, and Paderborn. In Germany, it stops in Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, and the border towns of Bad Schandau and \u00dast\u00ed nad Labem between Germany and the Czech Republic, before reaching its final destination in Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is planned to be a June departure flight from May 1 to June 14 at 8:22 am from Copenhagen, after which there will be two daily flights in each direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During the summer months, this number will be increased to three daily departures between Copenhagen and Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ticket costs, amenities, and entertainment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Tickets can be purchased through the DSB online travel store. Prices start from around 450 Danish kroner depending on the departure date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Czech-made carriage bodies, which form the means of transporting passengers, come from the manufacturer Siemens and were delivered in 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The train consists of nine carriages with 555 seats divided into first and second class, with power outlets, Wi-Fi, and reading lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The train also includes a restaurant car, a children's cinema showing cartoons, and tables with board games in the family section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is also space for 12 bicycles
