The Danish Ministry of Foreigners and Integration (Ministry of Immigration) published a statement regarding the decrease in the number of foreigners and refugees residing illegally, i.e., without legal residency. The statement read:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The number of rejected asylum seekers and foreign criminals in Denmark has fallen significantly compared to five years ago. At the end of 2025, the number of pending deportation cases was less than 1,000. This represents a 50% decrease in five years, demonstrating the success of the strict policy of returning migrants to their countries of origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 2020, the number of foreign criminals and rejected asylum seekers awaiting deportation from Denmark has more than halved. At the end of 2025, there were only 986 people awaiting deportation, compared to 2,185 at the end of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for Immigration and Integration Rasmus Stocklund says: \u201cIt is positive that we are still seeing a decrease in the number of foreigners without legal residence who must be returned to their countries of origin.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere is no place in Denmark for rejected asylum seekers and criminal foreigners. They must be returned to their countries of origin as quickly as possible, and so it is good news that in just a few years we have managed to halve the number of illegal foreigners who must be deported. We have tightened our deportation policy several times to make their lives as miserable and boring as possible until they leave, as they are obliged to do. The new figures clearly show that our measures are effective.\u201d
Of the 986 deportation cases pending at the end of 2025, 164 cases concerned foreigners residing in the K\u00e6rshovedg\u00e5rd center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The significant decrease in the number of pending deportation cases is due, in part, to the immediate deportation of foreign criminals. This is attributed to the expansion of the immediate deportation program starting in June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister explained, \u201cForeign criminals should not be in this country, and we should not allow them to destroy our beautiful homeland. Therefore, the government is working on a new proposal that would allow for the deportation of more foreign criminals convicted of rape or serious assault. It is time to protect the victims and the population instead of protecting the perpetrators.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
